Education Ph.D., Stanford, 1980. Interests African American, 19th-Century American, Modern American and Film Studies. Additional Information Richard Yarborough has received a Distinguished Teaching Award in 1987, been recognized as an Outstanding Faculty Member by the African Student Union in 1997, and received a commendation from the City of Los Angeles in 1990. He has published extensively on African American literature, and he is a literary historian who was one of the co-editors of the Norton Anthology of African American Literature
