English undergraduates receive prestigious Library Prize for Undergraduate Research

May 22, 2018

The Department of English celebrates the achievement of undergraduate students Erin Severson and Sophia Sidhu, who received the 2018 UCLA Library Prize for Undergraduate Research.

Erin Severson’s project was the winner of this year’s Library Prize for Undergraduate Research, Clark Library Prize. Erin Severson will be recognized for their project “The Academic Goose Chase: Swift’s Tale of a Tub Between Print and Manuscript.” Their faculty sponsor was Professor Helen Deutsch.

Sophia Sidhu’s project was the winner of this year’s 2018 Library Prize for Undergraduate Research, Digital Scholarship Prize. Sophia Sidhu will be recognized for their project “History of Synthetic Detergent.” Their faculty sponsor was English Professor Rachel Lee.

Competition for the Library Prize was stiff, and each application went through a rigorous judging process. There were many more outstanding projects than prizes to award. The Library Prize is funded by the generous gift of UCLA alumna Ruth Simon.

Erin Severson and Sophia Sidhu will be recognized at this year’s Library Prize for Undergraduate Research award ceremony and reception, held on May 24th at 4pm in Powell Library. All are welcome. Admission is free, and no reservations are required. See more here: http://www.library.ucla.edu/events/library-prize-undergraduate-research-award-ceremony-reception-0
