SUMMARY:Medieval Texts Reading Group
DESCRIPTION:The UCLA Medieval Texts Reading Group welcomes undergraduate students\, graduate students\, staff\, and faculty interested in medieval literature. On the third Friday of each term\, we get together to discuss a text in English translation from across the Global Middle Ages\, to think about what it tells us about its cultural and literary context. Each discussion will be led by an expert on the chosen text and its place in the wider medieval world. No preparation or expertise is required – only enthusiasm! \nOur first meeting this year will take place on Friday\, November 1 at 2:00-4:00pm in Kaplan 193. We will read the Old Norse-Icelandic Jökuls þáttr Buássonar (The Tale of Jökull Búasson).
