SUMMARY:Benedit a contrapelo/Benedit Against the Grain
DESCRIPTION:UCLA Comparative Literature invites you to a presentation and conversation with Argentine scholar and writer Alejandro Manara who will be discussing his most recent book Benedit a contrapelo (Benedit Against the Grain.) The event will be held on Friday November 15\, 2024 at 1:00pm PST in Kaplan Hall 193. Alternatively\, you may choose to attend the event remotely via Zoom. Please click here to join. \nLuis Fernando Benedit (1937-2011) was an Argentine architect\, artist\, and designer who pushed boundaries\, both physical and metaphorical. His multimodal work explored many critical aspects of Argentine life and identity\, pushing the limits between art and the sciences. Manara will be joined in conversation with Jason Araújo\, Ph.D. candidate in Comparative Literature and Assistant Director of the Instituto de Estudios Avanzados de Montevideo\, and Dr. Marcela Vieira\, curator and editor of Revista Rosa.
