DESCRIPTION:The UCLA Medieval Texts Reading Group welcomes undergraduate students\, graduate students\, staff\, and faculty interested in medieval literature. Once each term\, we get together to discuss a text in English translation from across the Global Middle Ages\, to think about what it tells us about its cultural and literary context. DESCRIPTION:Opening Night of the Phoenix of GazaXR exhibit: lecture and reception (Doors open at 5pm; Event begins at 5:30pm) \nVisit the event website for more information and to register. \nThe Phoenix of Gaza is a virtual reality project documenting life in Gaza through 360-degree filming completed over several years. The project began with the goal of showing the beauty and resilience of Palestinians living under occupation and siege & presenting Gaza outside the realm of death and destruction\, only to become redefined by the genocidal war that began in 2023. \nOn November 3rd & 4th\, The public will be able to sign up for 30-minute slots to view videos and images on VR headsets at the exhibit. Walk-in spots will also be made available both days. \nWe will open the Phoenix of Gaza exhibit on the evening of Monday\, November 2nd with a poetry reading by Fady Joudah and a lecture by the co-founders of the Phoenix of Gaza\, Professors Ahlam Muhtaseb (CSU-SB) and Naim Aburaddi (Villanova).
