Professor Justin Torres’ essay “It had to be Gold,” was selected by fellow writer Alexander Chee for inclusion in The Best American Essays 2022, available from Harper Collins Publishers. This piece was originally published in the Los Angeles Times as “The gold chain that got away.” Professor Torres’ story “You Better Come” was also anthologized earlier this month in Eileen Myles’ new book, Pathetic Literature, available from Grove Atlantic. This story was originally published in his novel, We the Animals.
