UCLA English alum Jui Sarwate receives Emmy Award
Congratulations to UCLA English alum Jui Sarwate who received an Emmy Award this past June for her work as an investigative data journalist for CBS News’ national Data Team. Sarwate (at right in the photo) along with her data teammate were nominated for five Emmys and won the Emmy Award for News or Short Form Content – Business/Consumer for their coverage of “Pothole Problems” in California. Regarding the award and her work on the piece, Sarwate said, “I am fortunate to be a part of the amazing CBS News investigative data team and, also, that I belong to the brilliant data journalism community. My interdisciplinary career was fostered at UCLA where I studied both English and Digital Humanities, the latter introduced to me by Professor Matthew Fisher. I’m grateful for every opportunity that this background has made possible.”
The 54th Annual Northern California Area EMMY Awards were presented on June 14. The EMMY Award is presented annually for outstanding achievement in television by The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS).
