Maximum of one trip per year (roundtrip airfare only), with a maximum allocation of $700 for domestic travel and $1,350 for international travel. Applications must be received by the Senate Committee at least 10 days before the commencement of domestic and 30 days before the commencement of foreign travel. To apply, go to www.senate.ucla.edu. After approval, submit airline ticket or stub for reimbursement to the Dept. Fund Manager in Room 168. Please also make sure to visit the Senate’s website for additional rules and restrictions.
Department 2nd Conference Program
Faculty that have applied for an Academic Senate Travel Grant are eligible for a 2nd travel grant available through the Department. Faculty must be able to demonstrate that they have applied (successfully or unsuccessfully) for the Academic Senate Travel Grant before reaching out to the Chair and department administrator for 2nd Conference Support. If the applicant has one international and one domestic conference, the costlier international trip should be on the Senate Grant and the department will cover the domestic trip. Additionally, international level funding can only be allocated once every other year.
As of 2016-2017 our current funding levels for active, senate faculty are $600 for domestic travel and $1200 for international travel. Emeritus funding is $400 for domestic travel and $800 for international travel.
The 2nd Conference Support program is only available when funding permits and has a fixed cap. Funds are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
