Katrina Carrasco (BA English) is excited to announce the publication of her novel Rough Trade. Carrasco will discuss her new work at Chevalier’s Books on April 15.

James Kyung-Jin Lee (MA Asian American Studies, PhD English) is a Professor of Asian American Studies and Director of Medical Humanities at UCI. Lee’s book, Pedagogies of Woundedness: Illness Memoir, and the Ends of the Model Minority, received honorable mention in the Literary Studies category from the Association for Asian American Studies.
Davida Siwisa James (BA, English) is pleased to share the release date of her forthcoming book, Hamilton Heights and Sugar Hill: Alexander Hamilton’s Old Harlem Neighborhood Through the Centuries, to be published by Fordham University Press in April. She will be an exhibitor at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books on April 20-21, 2024 at USC. Stay tuned for our interview with the author in our spring 2024 newsletter!

Joe Peeler (BA English) is an award-winning director and editor whose work has appeared on NETFLIX, HBO, FX, ESPN, Hulu and CBS. Most recently, Peeler co-directed Bad Press, which premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival and won the U.S. Documentary Special Jury Award for Freedom of Expression.

Kimberly Mack (PhD 2015) is Associate Professor of English at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign beginning fall 2023. Mack recently published her second book, Living Colour’s Time’s Up, part of Bloomsbury’s acclaimed 33 1/3 book series.

Alice Fulmer’s (BA English) debut poetry collection, Faunalia, will be published May 1.
Melanie Ho (BA Policy & Media Studies with a double minor in English and Political Science; PhD English) discussed the research behind her award-winning book, Beyond Leaning In: Gender Equity and What Organizations are Up Against, for a UCLA English event. Kimberly Mack (PhD English) won the African American Review‘s 2022 Joe Weixlmann Prize for her essay “Love Story Black and the Third Plane Novel.” This annual award is given to AAR‘s best essay on twentieth and twenty-first-century literature.
Angel Perez (BA American Literature & Culture with a double minor in Chicana/o Studies and American Indian Studies) was appointed Director of Counseling for UCLA College’s Honors Programs.
