Poetry and Expanded Media Panel at PAMLA

When: Friday, November 11, 2022 3:30 pm
Where: UCLA Luskin Conference Center: Laureate Classroom

A Creative Showcase and Discussion

3:30pm to 5:00pm at the UCLA Luskin Conference Center: Laureate Classroom

Literary practitioners have expanded their interests to include video games, performance art and visual poetics. “Expanded media” is our catchall term for all of those spaces between common forms of “media” — TV shows, video games, networked culture — and the subversive interests of writers extending the avant-garde tradition. This panel is free and open to the public. Visit the PAMLA conference schedule for more information.

This panel will feature:

Elisabeth Houston – Cal State, LA
“Celebrity & Anonymity, Form & Anti-Form: An Equivocal Discourse”

Daniel Snelson – UCLA
“Gaming Poems, Poeming Games”

Michael Luo – UCLA
“Marinated Guide to Game Making”

Erik Loyer – Independent Scholar
“I Was a Ship in Space”

Mason McClay – UCLA
“Can the Body Remember What Can’t Be Stored?”

Samantha Gorman – Tender Claws
“Behind the Virtual Curtains: Composition Strategies for Digital Immersive Narratives”

Joseph Mosconi – Poetic Research Bureau
“Blake’s Law”

Moderator: Brian Kim Stefans – UCLA
