Hammer Museum Poetry Reading with David Baker (and jazz guitarist Gregory Uhlmann)

David Baker will be reading from his just-published “Swift: New and Selected Poems” (W. W. Norton), as well as a suite of eco-poems. He will be joined for part of the evening by Gregory Uhlmann, an LA-based composer and guitarist who performs with jazz, fusion, and classical groups. He and Baker have worked together for several years in improvisational jazz and poetry events. Baker is poetry editor of the Kenyon Review and his honors include awards from the Guggenheim Foundation, the Poetry Society of America, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Admission to the event is free. Dedicated to the memory of Doris Curran, this series, which has provided a stimulating forum for nationally and internationally known poets for fifty years, is co-sponsored by the UCLA Office of Cultural and Recreational Affairs. It is organized and hosted by the UCLA English Department’s Stephen Yenser, Distinguished Research Professor.
