Hammer Museum Poetry Reading with Susan Wheeler
Where: Hammer Museum: 10899 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90024
Bag O’ Diamonds, the title of Susan Wheeler’s first book of poems, was predictive of all to follow thus far, as long as one understands that the poet herself is never predictable, as long as one understands that she will always be vivid and musical and edgy at once. Her work has won many honors, appeared The New Yorker, the Paris Review, and ten editions of Best American Poetry, and her most recent volume, Meme, was short-listed for the National Book Award in Poetry. She directs Creative Writing at Princeton.
Coffee, tea and, book signing with the author to follow.
Admission to the event is free. Please arrive early. Dedicated to the memory of Doris Curran, this series, which has provided a stimulating forum for nationally and internationally known poets for fifty years, is co-sponsored by the Friends of English and the UCLA Office of Cultural and Recreational Affairs.
