A Text/Tech event featuring Marylyn Tan
When: Monday, April 14, 2025 5:00 pm
Where: Kaplan Hall 193

Join UCLA English and the Text/Tech Lab for a poetry reading featuring writer-artist Marylyn Tan.

Disseminating & dissociating—let’s get textual in the virtual. This poetry reading and Q&A session will focus on writing form(lessness), bodies, queerness, the occult and what used to be the wild west of desires with new names, but has now become an endless spoon-feed of algorhithmic doom-scrolling.

Register here to attend. A light reception and book signing will follow the talk. Books will be available to purchase at the event.

Marylyn Tan is a queer, female, Chinese Singaporean writer-artist.  Her first child, GAZE BACK (Lambda loser, Singapore Literature Prize 2020), is the lesbo Singaporean trans-genre witch grimoire you never knew you needed. Her work trades in the abject, vulgar and pleasurable, striving to emancipate and restore the alienated, endangered body.
