You’re invited to the 2018 Marathon Reading, presented by the UCLA English department and Friends of English! For a full day, UCLA students and faculty will team up with distinguished guests to read both novels, relay-style, for an audience. Discussions, performances, and other fun breaks will be planned throughout the day. This fantastic event will bring together people across the UCLA campus and wider Los Angeles area to celebrate literature and enhance UCLA’s presence in the community.

The Marathon Reading has a long history of exciting partnerships between UCLA and the Los Angeles community. In past years, our celebrity readers have included Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings), Kate Mulgrew (Star Trek: Voyager, OITNB), Mayim Bialik (Big Bang Theory), John Lithgow (Dexter, The Crown), and Charlton Heston (Ben-Hur).
Please join us as an audience member for any part of the day and feel free to contact us at marathon@english.ucla.edu if you’d like to get involved as a volunteer. We welcome any potential designers, readers, organizers, or day-of helpers from all departments across campus.
