Join the Hammer, UCLA Department of English and UCLA Recreation in celebrating its long-standing poetry series for Poetry Month with the Anthony Hecht Poetry Prize Reading. This year’s judge is the distinguished poet Vijay Seshadri, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for 3 Sections, Poetry Editor for The Paris Review, and Director of non-fiction writing at Sarah Lawrence College. He will present the 2022 winner: Danielle Blau, whose debut collection is peep. Both poets will read from their work. The Hecht Prize is sponsored by Waywiser Press, founded and edited by Philip Hoy, whose senior American editor, Joseph Harrison, will share the history of this prestigious award. Organized and hosted by poet, literary critic, and UCLA Distinguished Research Professor Stephen Yenser. Cosponsored by the UCLA Department of English and UCLA Recreation.
