UG Programs English Minor

The English Minor is designed for those students who wish to enhance their major program with the benefits of intensive study of English language and literatures, including a better understanding and appreciation of literatures in English and improvement in critical thinking, reading, and writing skills.

To enter the minor, students must be in good academic standing (2.0 grade-point average) and must have completed English 10C with a grade of C or better. To declare the minor, please contact the Dept. of English Undergraduate Advising Office.

**NOTE: The requirements listed on this page represent the revised minor curriculum, effective as of Spring 2025. If you are a student who was pursuing the English minor prior to Spring 2025, and who had already begun the English 10 series, please speak with an English advisor about which curriculum you will follow.

• A grade of C or better is required in English 10C.
• English 10C provides GE credit in Literature & Cultural Analysis.
• The enrollment requisite for English 10C is English 4W. Students who have completed an alternate, literature-based Writing II course should contact an English undergraduate advisor for enrollment guidance.
